現職の王室顧問弁護士である当ワイナリー・オーナー、ビル・ナットソン氏は、ワールドクラスのワインを造る夢を叶えるため、2008年、自ら植付けを行い自家畑“ジェントルマン・ファーマー・ヴィンヤード”をスタートしました。

自家畑の3分の2を占めるスピアヘッドの看板品種、ピノノワールの他にも、小区画でシャルドネとリースリングが育てられ、いずれのワインもリリース直後より高評価を得て、国産ワインコンクールで数々の受賞歴を誇っています。

Another story of locals returning to their roots with the dream of producing world class wines, the Knutsons do almost all of the vineyard work themselves although for the time being Bill Knutson is keeping his "day job" as a Queen's Counsel. Their objective is to focus on Pinot Noir, with small quantities of Chardonnay and Riesling, on these cool slopes on the benchland East of Kelowna in a vineyard they've named "Gentleman Farmer Vineyard". This is not just a sideline but a serious venture and they were named Best New Winery at the 2012 Okanagan Wine Festival.

2010 SpierHead Pinot Noir
This wine is absolutely mind-blowing when you realize it comes from 3-year old vines. It may have a lighter colour and less intensity than some of the other Pinot Noirs and a lower alcohol level of just 12%, but that all adds to the charm of this beautiful wine. One is drawn to a more feminine adjectives to describe the nose, the mouth and overall balance, with lighter red fruits like strawberries coming to the fore, with just a hint of oak. Amazingly this wine also earned a Gold Medal at the Canadian Wine Awards so SpierHead has set the bar very high with their first release. This lighter bodied wine could be matched with almost any type of food...it's just a pleasure to drink!

衝撃的デビューを飾った初リリース（２０１０年）から２年。このワインの魅力である、フレッシュな果実味、ピュアな酸味、シルキーな喉越しの心地良さを保ちつつも、樹齢５年目の葡萄によるこのビンテージでは、アロマに一層の複雑さが、味わいに奥行きと凝縮感が加わりました。
また、アルコール度数が少し上がり、ふくよかさと余韻が増したことで、さらなるバランスの妙も感じられます。
エレガント・ピノの王道を行くこのワインは、むろん単体でも、食事に合わせても楽しめるスタイルに仕上がっています。

If the 2010 vintage made from 3-year old vines made a big impact, this vintage from now 5-year vines shows greater complexity but retains the bright freshness we loved last time. Light tannins and loads of fresh red berry flavours make this wine a delight on its own or with food.

きりりと引き締まった酸、柑橘類やアプリコットのフレッシュな果実味、口中を満たすミネラル感が何とも清々しく、ほのかに感じる樽由来の甘い香りとのハーモニーも絶妙！
万人向きの親しみやすさとともに洗練された品格を備えるこのシャルドネは、料理のジャンルを選ばず、魚介、ホワイトミート、チーズ、和食、エスニックなど幅広く合わせられる万能選手といえそうです。
2012 SpierHead Chardonnay
Although the majority of SpierHead's Gentleman Farmer Vineyard is planted to Pinot Noir, a small area has been set aside to produce typical cool climate Chardonnay. The furthest north of all our selected wineries, SpierHead's Chardonnay is crisp and refreshing with a citrus burst and hints of apricot and orchard fruits.
